Dear Compañeros,

Hooray for spring!!  Especially with May Day just around the corner, the season brings with it exciting opportunities to nurture the roots of political resistance!  And what better way to do that than to come out and support the students of this year's SFMT Youth Theater Project!  Also showing soon is the second installment of our new reading series, produced by one of our current Emerging Artists in Residence.

We also encourage you to blossom by participating in our summer workshop, for which we have extended our application deadline.  Searching for even deeper ways to plant the seeds of change?  How about working with us?  We're currently looking to HIRE some rad folks!

Continued Works of Progress
burb In March, we presented the first Works of Progress Reading, Jesse Brownstein's East Sahara West.  Please join us for the FREE reading of Works of Progress 2 on Monday, May 7 at 7:00 PM.  This time, emerging writer Cristóbal McKinney throws us into a surreal world full of searing sexuality, manipulation, power, love and catharsis in his play Bourbon Tastes Like Shit (that's why I drink it).  Two men and two women with murky and dark desires set about to find their place and who they are in the ever darkening kaleidoscope of America.  Bourbon doesn't just put forth the eternal question, "What is America?" but also, "What does it taste like?"
Summer Workshop deadline EXTENDED!
Learn the fundamentals of crafting and performing ensemble-based political theater in the SFMT style!  For folks still interested in taking part in this year's Summer Workshop (free with work exchange!), we are extending our application deadline to April 20th!  (Please note we are no longer able to provide housing for those who apply during this extended application period.)  Please visit our website HERE for information about the program and how to apply.
The Troupe is HIRING!

We are looking for an experienced grant writer who is excited by the challenge of seeking underwriting for a leftist theatre company.  Must be a self starter and have a comprehensive knowledge of the Mime Troupe's history and work.

The SFMT is looking for a flexible Costume Designer, familiar with working on original new plays, to design costumes for our 53rd Summer Season! Duties will include: designing/pulling/shopping/sewing/building.
We hope to see you at a few of our radical upcoming events.  Who knows, we may even have the pleasure of working with you soon!  Until then, keep on stickin' it to the man!
The SFMT Collective and Staff

P.S.  HAPPY EARLY MAY DAY!  We'll see you in the streets!
