Karen Runk (Production Stage Manager, Web Programmer) moved to SF with the intention of only staying for a few months. Two decades later she's still here! This is largely due to the talented folks at the Troupe. Runk first experienced the Troupe by stage managing two '97 youth projects, Revenger Rat Meets the Merchant of Death and Inside Out. After which she ran screaming into the arms of the Magic Theatre and there she stayed, contently for two years. The Troupe then wooed her back for their '99 Summer Production City For Sale. Still under the Troupe's wooing spell she's stage managed a plethora of their summer shows and has only managed to escape, successfully, one full summer back in '02 when she worked with SFShakes.
Annie Simmons (YTP Teacher) is thrilled to be on the teaching team for the San Francisco Mime Troupe's Youth Theater Project, a program that she wishes she could have attended in high school. Truly believing that collaborative theater serves as a model for righteous social systems and democracy, she aims to inspire her students to embody their beliefs, pursue their passions, and to create the type of world they want to live in. With a BA in Social Justice and Performing Arts, a lifelong dedication to childcare, theater, and music, Annie is about to begin her third year teaching with the Mime Troupe. She is forever grateful for the entire Mime Troupe Family, especially her students, for continuing to inspire and challenge her.
