Dear Fellow Citizens,
“It’s like Déjà vu all over again,” said legendary Yogi Berra. War with Iran, offshore oil drilling, and skyrocketing gas prices? We have been here before, only this time the stakes are even higher. Because of President Blowhard and his supremely self-serving administration, the US has spent its goodwill currency by creating global chaos. When the Iranians chant “Death to America," they don’t have to worry because America is killing itself. Helluva way to spend its 250th birthday!
Throughout the last almost seven decades, the San Francisco Mime Troupe has been chronicling it all, onstage, from the people’s point of view. Our goal is to motivate our audiences to exercise their Constitutional rights (while we still have them) and take action against a government that does not serve its citizens. Our passion flows freely -- but sadly, the cost of sharing it does not.
Last year, we resurrected our Cost of Free campaign. Your response made it possible for us to perform a half season rather than none. Our gratitude continues to be deep. However, the 2026 mid-terms require our full participation and SFMT must perform a full rabble rousing season to help boost folks out of their political lethargy and back into the voting booths.
We are therefore announcing our Cost of Free 2026 campaign to make a full summer tour return possible.

We are asking you once again to support our free theater in the parks with a targeted donation. Despite our legendary frugality, our budget grows, as costs do. For example, fuel prices are jumping sharply, and the many costs that track along fuel prices climb with it.

Before the 2026 campaign solicitations fill your mailbox, please adopt a line item from above or give any tax-deductible donation according to your means. Now is the time we need your financial support to ensure that SFMT will be back in the parks this summer speaking truth to power in story and song.
