The Youth Theater Project Spring 2026 Ensemble Workshop
Celebrating 30 Years of Empowering Bay Area Teens Through Theater & Social Change
Join us this spring for a dynamic and immersive after-school theater intensive designed for Bay Area teens ages 13 to 18, as we celebrate three decades of youth voices and storytelling through the Youth Theater Project (YTP)!
The YTP, now in its 30th anniversary year, is an educational program of the San Francisco Mime Troupe that uses theater as a powerful tool for teens to creatively explore and express their perspectives on the issues that matter most to them. Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to the stage, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to grow as an artist and storyteller.
Over the course of this two-month workshop- running from February to April 2026- participants become YTP Theater Apprentices, collaborating, creating, and performing together in our studio in the Mission District of San Francisco.
Led by a team of professional theater artists and social justice practitioners, students will:
Build foundational acting and performance skills
-
Dive into improvisation, character development, ensemble work, and play creation
-
Explore their creative voices in a supportive and inclusive environment
-
Work with peers from across the Bay Area
-
Create and perform original One Act plays
The program culminates in a public performance where youth share their original work- amplifying their voices and lived experiences on stage.
