ABOUT

Open to all ages 18 and above held two nights a week in our Mission District studio. Join the San Francisco Mime Troupe for an eight-week summer workshop on creating theater for social change by fusing current topics with ancient theatrical techniques.
In this eight week long intensive workshop students will learn about what makes successful Popular Theater, including the class archetypes for the different Commedia and American Melodrama Characters.

We want committed, radical theater makers to spend the summer with us, not only learning our acting and writing style, but working with the touring company, setting up and striking our stage on the show days.

WORK EXCHANGE

For every hour of class, there's an hour of work at the building or in parks with us. Therefore, participating in the workshop is a sixteen-hour-per-week commitment and some of that time is bound to occur on weekends.

Participants may opt out of the full work exchange and pay $950 for the workshop classes! This is a great option for people who have full time jobs and demanding work schedules. Paying participants will still be asked to work at least one full day in the park of our current touring show approximately 8 hours long to experience what it is like to be on tour with the company. A nonrefundable down payment of $100 will be due upon acceptance into the program and the remaining, nonrefundable, $850 will be due one week prior to the start of the workshop.
If you have questions, please read the Summer Program FAQs and the About Us before contacting us.

APPLY

Apply online or download and print our application and attach a resume, a head shot ( it can be a simple snapshot or selfie ), and we suggest you do but it is not required but attach a letter of recommendation.
Upon acceptance into the Summer Workshop participants will be required to immediately pay a non-refundable $60 materials fee to cover workshop expenses AND a deposit of $100 which will be returned upon completion of the workshop. Apart from these fees the rest of the workshop is free of charge. No additional money changes hands. Instead we have set up a work exchange program.
